Did you know that before there was the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or the Patek Philippe Nautilus, GERALD GENTA designed the Rolex King Midas watch. Based on the Greek Pantheon temple, the watch, of course, takes its name from King Midas in Greek Mythology, who had the ability to turn anything he touched into gold.

Mido was founded in 1918 by George G. Schaeren in Biel, Switzerland. The name "Mido" comes from the Spanish phrase Yo mido which means, I measure. The Mido Robot … was one of the TOP TEN most recognized advertising mascots, a symbol of robustness in the fifties. So much so that a famous comic strip of the period was dedicated to the Mido Robot and its adventures. YES !!! During the good old days, they did not just give you a Calendar, they went one step up & gave something extra like this cute Mido ROBOT !!!!!!!! THE ROBOT: This rare display consist of a 100% original Mido Robot in silver plastic fixed onto its 100% original red hard cardboard base . The base of the foot of the robot is signed in 6 Chinese characters that translates to English as “ Mido, King of Diving Watches”. His limbs are robotic like with the right arm raised to salute you. His abdomen is in the shape of a watch with the word Mido in red signed over it. The body, limps, head etc have a very nice 3D effect, with his eyes, mouth & lips so nicely done to give a very live-like smiling face. Every time I look at it, my long day just gets brighter & I can’t help but smile back at him as he is such a joyous robot with good manners. A HAPPY ROBOT :o) So, every time you take a look at him, you may actually hear him says: YES SIR, HAVE A NICE DAY, SIR !!!! as he salutes & smiles away, in-attention. The silver Robot is attached to the red hard-cardboard with plastic studs protruding from the back of the silver robot. At the back of the board, there is a hole for you to affix this super cute display onto the wall. And if you like, you could hang the new old stock 1961s Calendar that came with it onto the base of the display at the back of the feet of the robot, where there are two poles that will match the two holes on the calendar perfectly. An extremely rare & nice original vintage Rolex window display. Circa 1960s but perfect to showcase any picture, poster or advertisement of your favourite Rolex watch. VERY NICE !!! The beautiful display looks good on its own but also doubles up as a poster or picture frame. Made of gilt brass, partially painted in green soft enamel. Large Rolex crown at the tip of the display. I just love the cute little beautiful crescent shape base, which raised the display by a few inches, giving the charming effect of a pair of high heels on a fashionable lady... adding jewel to the crown. The back of the display is lined with a single block of wood, originally cut & tailor-fitted into the brass frame, with a flexible wooden easel that also acts as the holder of the hinged-opening to insert your favourite picture or poster. The wooden element enhanced the display with a very nice, rich & textured quality. 2 Original vintage hinges and 3 movable stoppers with many original tiny nails that hold the frame & the wood panel together, all with nice aging/patina. The easel & the "high heels" allow the display to tilt at a very nice angle, allowing perfect & proud visual connection when displayed on the counter or table. Measuring 42.5cm & 26.5cm. Overall very very very nice vintage condition with time related natural aging on the wood, gilt brass, enamel (a tiny repair at the top left corner of the green enamel section, which adds vintage charm & evidencing its age). An important, rare & nice historical Rolex display item perfect for collector of all ROLEX memorabilia.......

Well, well, well... if you think you have seen them all in the antiquorum auction, namely “Revolution: The Evolution of the Rolex Sport Watch” commemorating the 100th anniversary of Rolex. You are JUST VERY WRONG !!!! You are looking at one of the rarest ROLEX display items you can ever find to complete your Rolex collection. A very early ROLEX display tray that holds 6 watches. Upholstered in early green leather with 6 velvet watch holders that enable you to showcase your beloved Rolex watches especially the ever sought after SPORTS MODEL. On the top part of the tray, it is signed ROLEX with its logo and a statement that reads: " MEN WHO GUIDE THE DESTINIES OF THE WORLD WEAR " Overall it is in very very very good condition, the only signs of wear would be the two flaps in the middle of the tray, other than that no other serious wear & tear is noted, even the bottom part of the tray is in VERY VERY CLEAN CONDITION, evidence that it was hardly used at all......of course lah, it has been sitting prettily in the study of my humble home since 1988.... and this is one of the few times that it has seen light in 21 years !!!!

Personally love the vintage feel exuded by this vintage orange box. I can't explain it but if you are a serious collector, you will know exactly what I mean. Vintage PATEK Boxes are hard to find, this ORANGE one is harder !!! Search the web and see if you can find another one available for sale? exterior | TOP COVER: This beautiful box is upholstered with ORANGE leather in good condition with light surface wear. When closed, you can see the Patek Philippe’s emblem/logo fashioned in gilt color and inlaid to the box cover on the leather. Look closely and you will see the curves on the four corners of the box, sloping to the sides. ATTENTION TO DETAILS, this is. Inside of the box is lined with high quality suede like material that ensures that your beloved watch will NOT be scratched while you store it away. At the top left corner, there is a frame with letters that reads: PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE. Look at the joining part of the box, there is not a single gap at all as the designers have laid a layer of leather to cover up all gaps they could find. Original push piece in very good condition. The backbone where the box hinges to open is in good condition.

A very interesting early plastic ROLEX "Ring A Date Desk Calendar". Part of an early Rolex promotional material. This interesting item is made of early plastic in Rolex's official color GREEN. With Days of the week on the top row, follows by the DATE from 1 to 31 and MONTHs of the year. You can now check the tripledate & change the calendar (with the 4 rings provided) without destroying any trees. Very environmentally friendly too. Signed: You can tell the men who wear them, with 2 Rolex logo. On the back end of the calendar you will see the details of the authorised dealer, EASTEN WATCH CO, in gold script. From the telephone number, which is of 6 digits, you can tell that this is an OLD item as Singapore land line now has 8 digits. There is also space for your note pad, pens & pins, how thoughtful.
